Theodore Boone: The Accused~ John Grisham

Well, Riley liked this one so much, she accidentally ate some of it! In all seriousness, though, this was a really fun read. If I’m being honest, I had to push myself to start this title because I haven’t read many mystery novels lately. But about three chapters in, I felt like I was 12 again,  blowing through the Nancy Drew series! In The Accused, by John Grisham, Theodore Boone, the son of two lawyers, is set up and accused of theft. But not only is he set up, he is also harassed with threatening attacks--a slashed bike tire, a rock thrown into his window, and a viral photograph misrepresenting the truth. This novel keeps you turning pages, and Boone’s character is one so many kids can relate to.  I highly recommend this novel to students fifth grade and up!  #mystery #kidlawyer #accused #setup #crimeTake a look at my book talk slideshow presentation in my free resources folder ! A Lexile score is a measure of both a child’s reading ability and a text difficulty. However, Lexile does not take into account the content of a novel. So, pairing readers with a text is a complex process, and knowledge of a novel’s themes and plot is necessary to make a high-quality recommendation. If you are curious about the grade-level equivalent to Lexile scores, check out the conversion chart here!Check us out on Instagram! #rileyreadsya
